A persistent condition

A persistent disorder FoMO

Do you know? Quickly checking your facebook timeline on the toilet. Quickly scrolling through your Instagram feed while waiting for the train.

From people who know their Snapchat name, but have no idea who it actually is. Or not even listening when someone is talking to you because you are embroiled in a heated Twitter discussion. no?

Oh, then at least you don't suffer from this persistent disorder.

persistent disorder FoMO

I sometimes catch myself listening badly because I really need to check my facebook. Or yelling ‘just wait’ because I really need to look at 20 more instagrams. Imagine me missing something. After all, People Share Hugely Important Things on Social Media That I Really Can't Read A Day Later. Uh..

Not! Right, That's Where the Trouble Starts. I also Secretly Suffer A Little From Fomo, The Fear of Missing Out.

OR in Dutch, The Fear of Missing Something.

Addictive

We All Know Social Media is Addictive. I am also guilty of this. Before I blogged I had Several Accounts and Since I've Been Busy With Bblogt I've only Added More. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Google Plus, Pinterest, Bblogt is everywhere and I try to keep up with it all.

It's Hardly A Day's Work, As I Have Linked A Lot Of Things Together. I also have some private accounts. All in all, it is of course unreistic to keep track of all that super well. But Still, Somewhere, I Want To.

And why??

Lying Awake

Would People Really Lie Awake If I Do Not Post Anything For A Day Or More? Nah, I think that's not too bad. And would I sleep a minute less myself if I didn't check all the timelines before getting into bed?

Not that either. Somehow something creeps around somewhere that makes me fear I'm missing something. What if I miss that one piece of news or that great press release??

I do suffer a little from FoMO. I admit it.

The world will not end

Of course I've already figured out that the world does not end when I am not online for a day. If it did perish, I wouldn't be able to avoid it either. Social media is really not vital and could do with a little less. Although, it's crazy when you see that you get more and more followers. Those followers will be there tomorrow, though.

So no, Bianca, you don't have to be online every minute of the day. A few times a day is often enough. 😉

Do you sometimes suffer from FoMO? Or are you not so addicted?
